How Do I Hire a Voice Over Artist Online?

Step 1

Email is the best way to get in touch.  Please explain your project and any budget or deadlines you may have.  If possible include a sample of your script so that a demo of the read can be provided.  For an accurate fee calculation please include the following:

  • The type of production (Broadcast (TV/Radio), online only, internal corporate, IVR, eLearning, documentary etc.)

  • Whether it is intended as:

-Internal/B2B/Website/Organic social media posts

-Paid placement online/social media
-Broadcast on traditional media (please also state country, network or territory covered)

  • The length of the script in words, or the whole script document.

  • Voice tone reference if you have one (i.e. a section of my demos, or another piece of video/audio on youtube, etc)

  • The end client (who is being advertised / communicated)

  • The length of license - how long you intend for this to be used (eg. 3, 6 or 12 months, in perpetuity)

  • Any special requirements, such as if you need a live monitoring of the session via Zoom, require background music mixed in, timed audio syncing to your video etc.

Step 2

I will respond to you with a quote and a demo if the script has been provided.

Step 3

If you're happy with the demo and quote, then please email back a confirmation and attach the final script (if you haven't already). Make sure the script is 100% correct as any alterations after this point may incur additional charges to the fee quoted.

Step 4

  • I will record the full script and send to you a high quality wav file of the recording (or another format).

  • You’ll receive an invoice, which you can pay via Paypal*, ACH, Wise, or Bank transfer.

Step 5

If you are completely satisfied with the recording then the work is done and you pay the invoice. If you feel that the read is not quite right, or there is a mispronunciation, then email back with specific re-recording instructions.

I will re-record as per your instructions and send through the revised files in a timely manner. You only pay once you're satisfied with the recording. If alterations are made to the script, or the brief changes dramatically then there may be a re-recording fee. This is usually US$100 for up to 200 words changed.

*invoices paid using Paypal incur and additional 5% convenience fee

FAQ

What formats will you supply the audio files in?

Most audio formats can be supplied, but the most common are mp3 (at 198 kbps mono), wav, and aiff (uncompressed 48khz at 24bit). Any sample rate or bit depth can be supplied up to 192khz, 32 bit.

What sound equipment does your studio have?

  • Sennheiser MKH416 & Rode NT2A Mics

  • KRK Rokit 5 Monitors

  • Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Monitoring Headphones

  • Steinberg UR44C Audio Interface

What is your turnaround time?

My aim is within 24-48hrs, weekends may require an additional day.

Can I listen in to the recording live and provide real-time feedback?

Yes, we can organize a time that suits us both and you can listen in from anywhere in the world via zoom, etc.

What if I don't like the recording?

This is very very rare, but if this happens, I will record some additional demos for you until you're happy with the tone/pace/energy.  Then I will record the script in full again.  If after this time I am unsuccessful then I will cancel the invoice. You only pay for the files once they are recorded to your satisfaction.

What are your payment terms?

My standard payment terms are net 7 days of supplying final audio files and invoice. This can be negotiated for regular clients.
